4/28/2008 Key Code Questions? Here are some common issues/problems we see at the dealership with PATS keys (with computer chip inside)
1. Customer wants a spare key. We can cut a spare but the customer must have two already programed keys in order to program a third. If you only have one key for the car/truck you'll need to bring the unit into a Ford dealer to have the keys re-programed.
2. Customer has no key. Car/truck would need to be towed to a dealership to have codes pulled from the unit. Any key cut would not start the unit, it would only be able to open the doors.
3. All Ford dealers are asked to get at least a proof of title and a photo ID from any customer when cutting a key from a VIN number. This is for the customers protection and the dealership.
